Graphic Design

It's been a long time since I've written on this blog.  A lot has happened in the last few years.  Last summer I found my dream job - full-time production artist for a small publishing company in my area.  Little did I know that the job would be short-lived.  In February, we were told that the company would have a massive lay-off, and I lost my awesome job.  I was (and still am) totally depressed about it.  There aren't a lot of opportunities in my area for a new graphic designer.

The only good thing about the situation is that I now have the time to develop my skills in vector design - my true passion.  Before I started working, I began to create a lot of vector art with the idea that I would one day sell my art on stock websites or in an Etsy store.  I've spent many hours researching what other people are creating and selling.  Let me tell you, there are an unreal amount of people doing the same thing.

Some Etsy stores are very successful and some are not.  The stores with very few sales seem to have just as much good stuff as the successful ones.  But, I have to try.  It took a few months to prepare.  I created new items and improved some old favorites.  Next was getting everything organized and saved in the correct format.  After I had my files ready to go, I uploaded them to Etsy and crossed my fingers.  Hopefully my key words are good and people can find my items.  It's a bit worrying because I had to pay to list each item, and the listings expire in four months.  I want to come out ahead.

If you want to check out my store and my colorful vector art, here is the link:
